Priority One
Priority One
Priority One is a 9-Part young adult series that involves college age students having a conversation about the Priority One Devotional Book and the many different applicable topics.
About the Project
The reason for this project, Gospel Outreach, wants to appeal to the more local and younger audience here in the US as their focus is in the 10/40 window.
The parameters of this project. A 7–12-episode series with a 28:30 format. Specifically appealing to a young adult audience ranging from the age of 18-29. As well as being shaped in a talk show/podcast format. Conversation between friends essentially.
Doing extensive research on angles, indirect and ambient lighting, recruiting talent, scheduling, and getting familiar with a live switcher. From all of this, both Katie and I wanted to instill a cozy, relaxed conversational style of show. Focusing on that warm lighting, a couch for panelists to sit on, and 3 different camera angles to work with. This helped guide the questions we wanted to ask our panelists and the topics for each of the episodes. Thus, giving us a fun, cozy, and chill show while still giving that professional look
A big help in how our target audience was able to connect with our show was not only the set design and editing style, but the talent we brought on. Dr. Ellis, our host, did an amazing job guiding the conversation with the panelists. Our panelists were all college age, and so it's easier to connect with people your age. Everyone performed really well.
This project was really special; it was my first time creating a show and having full creative liberties with it as well. Here is our process. Starting this program from the ground up, I was responsible for Co-Producing, Directing, and Primary Editor. My partner Katie Szabo was also a Co-Producer, Co-Director, Graphics, and Set Designer. Together we produced a fantastic series. Initially, we had to start finding talent. We reached out to a multitude of people, not only to host the show, but to be panelists in the program. Once that step was complete, we narrowed down our picks to 9 people and 1 host. Next came our set design and filming. We wanted an ambient look when it came to our set, focusing on softer indirect lighting. Just from one look, you can feel the warmth and casual setting. Then began our 3 days of filming. Each day had 3 episodes recorded. Our day schedule started at 9am and always ended on time at 2:30. All 3 days went smoothly with the occasional reshoot because of audio static, but nothing we couldn’t handle. Finally came the editing, with 3 different camera angles multicam editing was the most effective way to tackle this project. Turned out those little hiccups on audio while filming became huge issues, anytime I increased the gain it became more apparent that we needed to apply Decrackle, Dehissing, Dehumming, and Voice ISO to improve the audio. I ensured we had the highest quality we could possibly have, and it came out great! I created a 28:30 and a full version of each of the 9 parts.
Gospel Outreach plans on releasing the series in August of 2026
